The Other Krugman

Most people who know Paul Krugman’s opinion writing think of him (for better or worse) as a liberal ideologue who does not suffer fools gladly. He is that, but so much more – in particular, a razor-sharp policy economist whose recent analysis of subjects ranging from international competitiveness to commodity prices to currency unions ranks as some of the best economics journalism out there. Conservatives who don’t read him – especially his pieces on international economics – as a matter of principle are cutting off their proverbial noses.

How true! I am not a conservative but are appalled that many people think that disagreeing with Krugman is all one needs to confirm conservative stripes. As stated, reading Krugman is more education in economic policy than a lot of what is available out there. And as is obvious, one does not have to agree with everything he says but one is obliged to read it first before disagreeing.
